Montpelier Clerk-Treasurer Announces December 31 Retirement

Montpelier's clerk-treasurer, Margaret, will retire effective December 31, 2026, Brad Neff announced at the August 10 Redevelopment Commission meeting.
Under Indiana law, the Democratic Party has 30 days to nominate a replacement. If the party does not fill the position within that window, the city can appoint someone.
Margaret and commission members discussed the importance of a smooth transition. She wants her replacement to attend year-end meetings, newly elected officials training, and training on Keystone — the city's accounting software — before she departs.
The clerk-treasurer manages all city finances, payroll, utility billing, and grant accounting. With Montpelier's active portfolio of grants and construction projects, finding and training a qualified replacement before year-end is critical.
