Montpelier is planning a major America 250 celebration for July 4, 2026, organized in partnership with the Daughters of the American Revolution. The event will be held at the local racetrack, whose owner granted permission since no race is scheduled that weekend.

Planned activities include a free breakfast for all veterans, a parade from the racetrack down Main Street and back, a time capsule opening with contents displayed at the event and the Civic Center, and a fireworks show that evening. Brian Maddox will serve as master of ceremonies. The Civic Center will also host a historic walk demonstrating events leading to the American Revolution.

The mayor noted that flyers need to be printed and distributed soon, with the event less than two months away. A Facebook page for the celebration already exists.
