May 28 Graduation Set for Blackford County Schools
From the Blackford County School Board meeting on October 13, 2026
Blackford County Schools identified Friday, May 28, 2027, as its graduation date October 13, and Superintendent Yencer agreed to survey parents about future school calendars.
The graduation year was expressly corrected to 2027 during the meeting; the agenda had incorrectly printed 2026. The graduation item did not require a vote.
A parent and board members urged earlier calendar publication and consideration of two-year calendars. Discussion compared a full-week fall break with a shorter break and later school start. Sports schedules, makeup days and alignment with Muncie Area Career Center were also considered.
Yencer agreed to conduct a parent survey. The board did not adopt a calendar or vote to authorize the survey. Drafts discussed at the meeting were not final school schedules.
