Matt Barnes Joins Hartford City Board of Public Works and Safety; Employee Earns CDL Raise

From the Hartford City Board of Public Works and Safety and Safety meeting on August 17, 2026

Matt Barnes has joined the Hartford City Board of Public Works and Safety and Safety, replacing Kristi Bonewit. Barnes was present for roll call at the August 17 meeting and voted on all items.

The current board consists of Dan Eckstein (presiding), Barnes, and Pam Weiseman, with Clerk-Treasurer Dana Whatley also present. The city attorney was absent.

The circumstances of Bonewit's departure — whether by resignation, term expiration, or other means — were not discussed during the meeting.

In a separate personnel action, the board approved a $0.25-per-hour raise for streets and maintenance employee Max Bonewit, who passed his CDL test and completed his 90-day probationary period. The raise takes effect August 17 and was approved 3-0.
