Main Street Manhole Left Offset After Repaving — Fix Being Scheduled
By The Blackford Ledger

From the Montpelier Board of Works & Safety meeting on July 15, 2026
A manhole on Main Street was left offset when the road was milled and repaved, creating what Water Superintendent Chase Perry described as a "pretty big divot" that is "jarring" if hit by a vehicle. An inspector confirmed it "should have never been done like that." One board member said, "I hit it every day."
The paving contractor is being scheduled to return, cut the asphalt, and fix the issue. Perry has a riser available if needed and may place a barrel around it as a temporary safety measure.
