From the Blackford County Schools Board meeting on May 19, 2026
Jim Fox, principal of Blackford Intermediate School, has been named the 2026 Indiana Association of School Principals District 6 Elementary Principal of the Year.
The award is peer-nominated, with colleagues selecting the winner. Fox has been with Blackford County Schools for 11 years. He previously led the Montpelier school through its closure, which the superintendent said he handled "with grace," before transitioning to principal of Blackford Intermediate School.
Fox is also active in the community beyond school through youth sports and food pantries. The superintendent highlighted the third-grade reading improvement to an 89.4% iRead pass rate as a performance indicator connected to Fox's building leadership.
Fox attended the meeting with his wife Michelle and son Jace and gave emotional remarks reflecting on his 11 years in the district.
