Hartford City: Teardown Upheld at 721 South Richmond
From the Hartford City Property Standards Board meeting on June 10, 2026
The Property Standards Board heard the case for 721 South Richmond Street, owned by Joshua Hatton. The property has been vacant for six to eight months, with a garage in poor condition and septic and drainage issues.
Hatton, who appeared by phone, said he lived there for two and a half years, installed a new furnace, and believes the structure is sound. He expressed intent to rent or sell the property. Board member Bob Kingery moved to uphold the teardown order, citing concerns that renting the property would simply transfer the problem to a new occupant. The motion was seconded by Colleen Dickey.
A separate Hatton property on Fulton Street has a different case going to court in July. City Attorney Rothstein confirmed these are unrelated cases.
