Hartford City Submits DNR Grant for Sigma Phi Gamma

From the Hartford City Common Council meeting on August 3, 2026

Dan Eckstein announced that the city has submitted a grant application to the IDNR Land and Water Conservation Fund for improvements at Sigma Phi Gamma.

The grant requires a local match. The city is working with the Blackford County Community Foundation and approaching local factories for funding. Eckstein described the grant as "significant" and said it would "change Sigma Phi," referencing a public meeting held approximately 2.5 weeks ago to discuss the park's future.

No specific dollar amount for the grant was stated.
