Hartford City Redevelopment Commission Starts 30-Day Demand on Daniels Tenant

From the Hartford City Redevelopment Commission meeting on September 17, 2026

The Hartford City Redevelopment Commission voted Sept. 17 to send a certified follow-up letter to a Daniels Building tenant identified in the meeting as Artistry, giving the business 30 days to pay what it owes or face a likely eviction filing.

Attorney Tyler Rotstein told the board he did not yet have the final signed lease in hand, but the version he had reviewed pointed to the same basic problem: unpaid rent and unpaid electric bills. Dana Whatley said the amount due had risen by another $890 with September rent.

Commission members made clear they were treating the matter as a lease breach. The board voted 4-0 to send an updated certified demand letter showing the amount due and the 30-day deadline. Rotstein said the issue should return on the next agenda for a status update and, if needed, authorization to file a commercial eviction case.

The full past-due total was discussed, but it was not read clearly enough in the transcript to publish with confidence.
