Hartford City Pool Opens With 170 Visitors on First Day
From the Hartford City Parks Board meeting on June 9, 2026
The Hartford City pool opened on Monday, June 9, and drew 170 visitors by 5:30 PM on its first day. The concession stand sold out of breadsticks and hot dogs and went through an entire gallon of cheese.
The opening was delayed by a major equipment failure — the pool's water pump had to be replaced. The pump was approximately a decade old and was described as "really one of the last pieces to the pool that hasn't been updated" in about 10 years. The replacement was called "a major cost and a major setback," though no specific dollar amount was disclosed at the meeting.
In addition to the pump replacement, the pool floor was painted, lifeguard chairs were updated, landscaping was improved, and all playground equipment at the pool was power washed before opening day.
