Hartford City opens 2027 budget hearing with 1% pay increase proposal
From the Hartford City Common Council meeting on September 9, 2026
Hartford City Common Council opened its 2027 budget hearing Wednesday, heard no public comment, and got an early outline of a spending plan Clerk-Treasurer Dana Whatley said is close to last year's.
Council suspended its regular meeting to hold the hearing, then closed it and returned to regular business. Whatley said the proposed budget is "pretty similar to last year's budget" and includes a 1 percent increase for salaries.
She also said salary ordinances are still ahead in October, so part of the city's pay plan remains unfinished. The hearing marked the start of the city's 2027 budget process.
