Memorial Pool Sees Record Attendance in Hartford City — Free Admission July 2 and 3

From the Hartford City Facebook Live stream on July 1, 2026

Hartford City’s Memorial Pool is seeing record attendance this season as extreme heat drives residents to the water. A parks official reported over 200 visitors before 2:00 PM on July 1 alone.

The city council and mayor’s office are sponsoring free admission on Wednesday, July 2, and Thursday, July 3. Huggins Auto Sales sponsored 200 free admissions on July 1. Feeding Blackford County distributed free boxes of cereal to children at the pool that afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, with a limit of one box per household.

Pool admission is normally $1. The city has completed landscaping updates and infrastructure improvements at the facility, and visitors from surrounding communities have praised the pool’s condition.

The city is inviting other local businesses to sponsor additional free pool days. Interested businesses can contact City Hall or the parks department.
