Hartford City Forms Newberry Grant Oversight Committee
From the Hartford City Common Council meeting on October 5, 2026
Hartford City created a fiduciary committee Monday to oversee how READI-grant money tied to the Newberry project will be approved and paid out.
A council member said READI-grant money had been approved and that work would continue on the Newberry. He then asked the council to create a committee to handle outlay and approval of funds. The council approved the committee by voice vote.
The membership read into the record was Dan Eckstein, Commissioner Dan Borgenheimer, Council Member Ron Dudelston, Council Member Bill Aspy, and Economic Development Director Warren Brown as an advisory member.
The amount of READI funding tied to the work was not stated during the discussion, but Monday's action put a formal oversight structure around the spending rather than leaving those decisions informal.
