Hartford City Board of Works Approves $8,300 for Children's Safety Program
From the Hartford City Board of Public Works and Safety meeting on May 18, 2026
The Hartford City Board of Public Works and Safety approved a $8,300 payment to Childhood Victories Inc. for a grant-funded "body safety" education program for children during its regular meeting on May 18.
The program, described as teaching children about safe and unsafe physical contact, is funded through a grant and administered through a foundation. A board member identified as Cody confirmed the program details during the meeting.
The board also approved a payment to Robert Shuler for concrete work — an additional concrete pad at a training center. Both Mayor Dan Eckstein and board member Pam Weiseman voted to approve all items, with votes passing 2-0. Dana Whatley served as clerk.
The meeting was brief, with no old or new business discussed. Minutes from three prior sessions — the May 4 regular meeting, a May 6 executive session, and a May 6 special session — were approved. The May 4 minutes were amended to add an effective date for an employee identified as "JM."
Notable city issues including the DPW director vacancy, water treatment plant, and utility rates were not discussed.
