Hartford City approves more Well 4 repairs after casing damage found

Hartford City Common Council approved more repair work on Well 4 after workers found holes in the casing during an overhaul of what utility staff described as the city's highest-producing well.

Staff told council the well had already been pulled for overhaul when crews discovered the casing damage. They said the holes were allowing stone and sand into the well, turning what had begun as a routine equipment project into a deeper repair.

Council members said last month's vote had already covered the motor and rebuild work. This vote approved a second quote for the well-wall and casing repair itself. The transcript excerpt reviewed for this article did not clearly state the dollar amount of that second quote.
