Get or give a winter coat with Coat-A-Child Oct. 3
Hartford City Rotary Club's Coat-A-Child program is helping children of all ages get a free winter coat, hat and gloves Saturday, Oct. 3.
The event runs from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Girl Scout House, 625 N. Mill St., Hartford City. The club will have new and gently used winter wear. Bring your child.
This year, a new rule applies: children must attend so volunteers can make sure each coat fits.
Looking to donate?
Former Rotary members Doris and the late Larry Tyler started Coat-A-Child in 1992 as a drive for gently used coats. The Tylers saw a need for warm winter wear among local children.
That drive continues today. Donation boxes for new and gently used coats, hats and gloves sit at Richards Restaurant and Needler's Fresh Market. The club accepts cash donations to buy new and gently used winter wear. Make checks payable to Hartford City Rotary Club and mail them to Debbie Cheesman, 108 S. Southwood Dr., Hartford City, IN 47348. To arrange a pickup, call 765-499-9529.
