Fire Department Interlocal Agreement Shifts to One-Year Term
From the Hartford City Common Council meeting on January 5, 2026
The interlocal agreement between Hartford City's fire department and area townships is shifting from the customary three-year term to a one-year term, at the request of township trustees.
Fire Chief Nick Parrott reported to council on January 5 that after meeting with all township trustees, the trustees requested the shorter term. Parrott described the change as an opportunity to discuss future EMS-related matters later in the year. The trustees had already signed the agreement, which still required council and mayor signatures.
The shorter term means the agreement will come up for renewal again soon, giving both sides a chance to revisit the terms of fire and potential EMS services.
