From the Dunkirk Board of Works meeting on June 22, 2026
Dunkirk's water department dump truck — a 1997 Dodge with a 2001 cap — broke down due to a fuel transfer pump failure. The Board of Works approved $1,951 for the repair plus $200 for towing, totaling $2,151.
The repair is a stopgap. A department employee described the truck's frame as having holes large enough to fit a Nerf football through and said the vehicle would fail a DOT inspection. The board directed staff to budget for a replacement truck in 2027.
The truck was towed by Massey to Rightway for the repair.
