Dunkirk Street Position Added at $20.17 an Hour

From the Dunkirk City Council meeting on September 28, 2026

Dunkirk officials amended this year's salary ordinance and approved next year's version to add a third street-department position paid at $20.17 an hour.

Council approved changes to Salary Ordinance 2026-13, then adopted Salary Ordinance 2026-14 with the same rate carried into 2027. The vote put a specific wage behind the added position instead of leaving the staffing change as a general budget item.

The same night, related discussion in the Board of Works meeting showed the city also shifting labor between departments. Officials approved moving an employee identified in the source as Chris from the water department to the street department, then discussed how much of that employee's pay should be charged to park work. The Board of Works discussion also showed support for moving Jamie into the assistant water-supervisor role, which the council later approved.

The brief did not safely verify Chris's last name, and Jamie's last name appeared garbled in the transcript. What is clear is that Dunkirk is reorganizing street, water, and park staffing while locking in pay for the added street position.
