Dunkirk set this year's Halloween trick-or-treat hours for Oct. 31 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and approved a $250 sponsorship for the Jay County High Rollers.

Council discussed coordinating the city hours with Kathy Nelson and the Albans so trunk-or-treat activity could run at the same time. The vote gives residents a set evening window for Halloween activity inside the city.

Council also approved the High Rollers request after members said the group uses Dunkirk's bowling alley. During the discussion, officials said sponsors at the $250 level receive logo placement, while $100 sponsors are listed by name.

The meeting record says Dunkirk had not sponsored the group before. One council member supported the request because of the team's local connection.
