Dunkirk says housing push is moving with READY deadline and developer meeting

Dunkirk's housing and downtown development push kept moving Monday, with officials saying a READY program draw is due by the end of September and a developer meeting is scheduled for this week.

JCDC's quarterly update said the first draw will cover design work under the housing project. Officials also said the city is getting close to additional financing through what the transcript renders as a RIF loan.

The same update said an intern spent the summer inventorying 19 available lots and assembling a packet that has already been shown to a local development team. JCDC said the city is trying to control design outcomes so new construction has a coordinated look instead of a scattered mix of styles.

Mayor Jack Robbins said he may have another developer to add to the conversation. The report also pointed to free grant-writing and board-development help through a Purdue regional partnership and community vitality pilot.
