Dunkirk Renews Sewage CD, Clears Claims and Leak Credits
From the Dunkirk City Council meeting on September 28, 2026
Dunkirk City Council approved a series of smaller money actions Sept. 28, including a sewer claim, a broader claims docket, renewal of a sewage certificate of deposit, a charity sponsorship, and two water-bill adjustments tied to underground leaks.
Dan Watson presented an East Central Contractors claim for $5,135.50 to jet a line and replace a lateral in Lane Addition. Council also approved a separate claims docket totaling $51,011.47.
Clerk-Treasurer Kara Lowe told the council a sewage CD at Citizens was due for renewal on Oct. 5 and estimated the balance at about $223,000 with interest. Members chose to renew it rather than cash it out for repairs.
Lowe also presented two water adjustments that the water department had verified after underground leaks: $583.17 for 702 North Elm and $716 for 246 East Washington. Council also approved a $550 Secret Families sponsorship. None of those votes carried the scale of the night's budget or water-line actions, but together they moved city money in several different directions.
