Dunkirk Pool Faces Pump Shortage and Growing Maintenance Needs

The Dunkirk Park Board is dealing with a replacement pump shortage — following the council's $7,615 pump purchase approved in July — for the public pool and a backlog of maintenance needs submitted by the pool manager.
Board member Bill reported that Brad, a staff member, has been unable to find an available replacement pump. One supplier quoted $5,000 more than expected, and other vendors require full payment upfront. Brad is continuing to search, but the board indicated they may need to pay the premium if no better option emerges.
Separately, the pool manager submitted a list of items needing attention, including a leaky pipe at the concession stand, a handicap chair or lift needing repair, a loose slide requiring replacement or repair, umbrellas for the slide area and concession stand, a CPR breathing mask, and a new chair for admissions. The board chair will follow up with the pool manager to clarify some items before ordering.
The board also noted that the community center day camp has not yet been billed for pool usage, and an invoice will be prepared.
