Dunkirk Fire Pumper Truck Still Down — Pump Removed for Rebuilding
From the Dunkirk Board of Works and City Council meetings on May 11, 2026
Dunkirk's fire tanker/pumper truck remains out of service 21 days after the pump failed on April 23. The pump has been physically removed from the truck and is being rebuilt by a technician. No timeline for completion was given.
The tanker is described as the truck used to fill swimming pools and hold water for grass fires and other emergencies. A council member confirmed: "The pumper truck is still down. They've taken the pump out. There's no time schedule on when that's going to be fixed."
Pool filling, which had been suspended because of the pump failure, has resumed by alternative means.
