Dunkirk Council Weighing 3% to 5% Employee Raises for Next Budget Year

From the Dunkirk City Council meeting on June 22, 2026

The Dunkirk City Council discussed employee salary increases for the upcoming budget year but tabled the decision pending more detailed cost figures.

The mayor had requested the figures at a previous meeting so the council could decide at this session, but the numbers were not ready. Council members asked for calculations showing the budget impact of raises at 3%, 4%, and 5%.

One council member said they would not vote to go higher than 3% and wanted to see the overall budget impact before deciding. The figures will be presented at the next council meeting.

The raise discussion was first raised by the clerk-treasurer at the June 8 meeting.
