Dunkirk City Hall Facing Multiple Maintenance Problems

By The Blackford Ledger The Blackford Ledger

From the Dunkirk City Council meeting on June 22, 2026

The Dunkirk clerk-treasurer raised a list of maintenance issues at city hall during the council meeting, seeking direction on repairs.

Standing water in the basement is not being adequately addressed by the building's sump pump. Council President Jack has been working on the problem but cannot get contractors to return calls. An awning damaged in a recent wind storm remains unrepaired. A broken exterior light is being addressed by Street Superintendent Brad.

The building's interior light fixtures use bulbs that are no longer manufactured, meaning a full replacement with modern fixtures will eventually be needed. All front windows are single-pane and need replacement.

No votes were taken. The clerk-treasurer noted that contractors are in high demand due to recent storm damage across the region.
