From the Dunkirk Park Board meeting on August 26, 2026

The Dunkirk Church of the Nazarene has asked the Park Board about planting a permanent Christmas tree at Depot Park, with the goal of having it in place before Christmas 2026.

Last year, the board arranged a temporary tree — dug from a nursery, planted for the season, then removed. The church had wanted to plant in the green space, but that location was rejected because of the mural. A spot on the east side of Depot Park was suggested as an alternative that would not interfere with the shelter house.

The board was generally supportive. Board member Jack, who was absent, was identified as the person to consult on planting logistics. Planning will continue at the next meeting.
