Dunkirk Board of Works Approves Ditch Excavation, Vehicle Repair; Water Tower Painting Under Way

The Dunkirk Board of Works handled several items at its July 27 meeting.

Katcher Excavating was paid $5,000 from the stormwater fund for clearing the north ditch from Haskell Road to Blackford Avenue. The board also approved $2,066 for a Stutz APV repair on an employee's vehicle damaged during work, and $2,369.79 for a police officer physical.

The city's water tower project is progressing: power washing is complete and painting has begun at the base. An estimated two more weeks of work remain, weather permitting.

Sewer holding pond maintenance is also planned, with equipment coming in for tree trimming and a price being obtained for spraying afterward.

In other items, Center Point Energy has four utility locates this week and is patching two road cuts and two sidewalk patches on Blackford Avenue. The fire department held a school bash at the Moose, giving away over 100 backpacks and free haircuts. A new rules sign for the pickleball court has been received and will be installed.
