Dunkirk Begins Sewer Camera Work, Finds Infiltration

By The Blackford Ledger The Blackford Ledger

From the Dunkirk Board of Works meeting on June 8, 2026

Dunkirk began sewer camera work on Monday, June 9, running from Washington Street and Broad Street toward Moore Avenue. The city is searching for storm and sanitary sewer crossovers — places where the two systems are improperly connected.

Infiltration has already been found between Orange Street and Moore Avenue in an alley area. Crews also discovered gas lines running through some sewer lines. Water leaks in the system remain ongoing.

The city has taken itself off the early warning band for new sewer hookups while it works to understand the system's condition.
