The Dunkirk City Council approved a $13,000 contract with Mike's Home Improvement Construction to replace the roof and metal siding on a water department storage building damaged in a recent windstorm. The storm ripped off approximately one-eighth of the roof.

The building is the oldest in the water department complex and has a gravel floor. The work includes a full roof tear-off and replacement, new metal siding, and gutters. The city will provide treated wood for the footer and use its own forklift to place roofing material. The contractor must provide a certificate of liability and W-9 before work begins.

Two other companies were contacted but never showed up to assess the job.
