Dunkirk 2027 Budget Adopted After Second Reading

By The Blackford Ledger The Blackford Ledger

From the Dunkirk City Council meeting on September 28, 2026

Dunkirk City Council adopted the city's 2027 budget on Sept. 28, moving the spending plan out of hearing stage and into final approval.

Council first approved the required second reading of Budget Ordinance 2026-12. The transcript reviewed for this brief shows no recorded questions before members voted to move ahead and then adopt the ordinance.

That action advanced a process the council had been working through since August. Earlier coverage showed the city had already authorized budget advertisement and was preparing fund adjustments and other pieces of the 2027 plan before the Sept. 14 budget hearing.

The Sept. 28 transcript confirmed the budget vote, but it did not include the full appropriation tables or fund-by-fund totals. That means residents now have confirmation the budget passed, while the exact breakdown by department and fund was not captured in the transcript text reviewed for this brief.
