County Opens Farm Lease Bidding and Reviews Separate 14-Acre Request

By The Blackford Ledger The Blackford Ledger

Blackford County commissioners voted to seek bids for a county cash-farm lease on Sept. 8, and also took a separate request to lease about 14 acres near the landfill under advisement.

In separate discussion, he said Denny Coons had asked to lease roughly 14 acres of county ground near the landfill.

The commissioners did not set a lease amount during the meeting. They instead opened the farm lease to bidding and postponed a decision on the landfill-area request until a later meeting.

That means county-owned land is being actively reconsidered for agricultural use, but the terms and expected revenue were still unsettled as of Sept. 8.
