County Moves Ahead on Rehab Grant Application With Match Up to $50,000
Blackford County Commissioners approved application paperwork for an owner-occupied home rehabilitation program on Sept. 8 and committed the county to a local match described in discussion as up to $50,000.
Brown said the county plans to apply for $500,000. He said aid would be capped at $25,000 per house, which could let the program serve about 20 homes across the county.
Brown also said Hartford City, Montpelier, and the EDC would each be asked to contribute $25,000 to strengthen the application. It's unclear whether those outside contributions were approved at this meeting.
If the grant is awarded, the money could help pay for housing repairs in Hartford City, Montpelier, and unincorporated parts of Blackford County.
