County Hears $19,780 Data-Center Ordinance Proposal

By The Blackford Ledger The Blackford Ledger

Blackford County officials discussed a $19,780 proposal from HWC Engineering to draft a county data-center ordinance framework before any formal project comes to local boards.

Warren Brown said the idea was to prepare a vetted draft with public meetings, then send a proposed ordinance to the Blackford County Blackford County Area Planning Commission if the county wants to move forward. Vice President Dan Borgenheimer cited the $19,780 cost during the discussion.

The county is showing interest in having rules ready before a data-center proposal reaches the county.

That could shape how future large industrial projects are reviewed, and how much public input residents get before local land-use rules are set.
