Blackford County Council Approves Routine Transfers, Surveyor Hire, and Perpetuation Fund Ordinance

The Blackford County Council approved several routine items during its August 5 meeting, all by 6-0 votes.
The council authorized a $1,400 transfer for the Superior Court's legal research expenses. It also approved the county surveyor's request to hire a part-time employee for 18 weeks at 20 hours per week and $15.00 per hour, totaling $5,400. The position runs from August 24 through approximately December 25, 2026.
Additionally, the council passed an ordinance allowing the surveyor to use the perpetuation fund for professional services.
The county auditor reported the July 2026 financial snapshot: a cash balance of $3,529,571.69, total expenditures of $613,417.73, and total revenue of $190,737.53.
