County Advances Bridge 37 Work With $257,120 Engineering Estimate

By The Blackford Ledger The Blackford Ledger

Blackford County officials advanced planning for a Bridge 37 replacement project on Sept. 8 with an engineering estimate of $257,120 from SJCA Engineers.

The bridge is on 700 East north of State Road 26. The county wants to replace a two-pipe crossing with a three-sided concrete box structure.

Meeting discussion said the county is lining up the work now in hopes of seeking Community Crossings funding. Officials said permit timelines make 2028 more likely than 2027 for the larger project schedule.

The estimate is a sign that this is a long-range capital project, not a small repair. Residents near the route should expect a multi-year planning and funding process before replacement work begins.
