County Adopts Hazard Mitigation Plan Under Resolution 2026-13

By The Blackford Ledger The Blackford Ledger

Blackford County commissioners unanimously adopted the county's multi-hazard mitigation plan on Sept. 8 through Resolution 2026-13.

During the meeting, officials described the plan as a document of about 245 pages. Borggheimer thanked EMA Director Jason Withers and others who worked on it.

No direct spending figure was tied to the vote. The significance is in the planning itself: counties often need an adopted hazard-mitigation plan to qualify for certain disaster and mitigation grants.

In practical terms, this vote updates the county's formal disaster-planning framework and may help keep Blackford County eligible for future outside funding.
