Blackford County Schools Approves Personnel and Library Appointments
From the Blackford County Schools Board meeting on September 15, 2026
Blackford County Schools approved a round of personnel actions and two public-library board appointments Tuesday, including a retirement, a JROTC staffing change, and a Hartford City Library Board appointment.
The board voted 4-0 on a personnel report that congratulated Elaine LaSheen on her retirement after more than 25 years with the district's custodial and building team. The same report said Mike Gullett would become the district's second JROTC instructor after the district accepted Master Sargeant Kaufman's retirement letter effective just before fall break.
The personnel report also referenced student custodian positions funded in part through a grant, a recommendation for a new varsity baseball head coach identified by the surname Reinhart, and medical leave requests. No salary or contract amounts were stated in the segment reviewed.
In separate 4-0 votes, the board appointed Carly, the library media specialist at Blackford Primary School, to the Hartford City Library Board and renewed one appointment to the Montpelier Harrison Township Library for a four-year term. The reviewed segment did not preserve that appointee's name clearly enough to publish.
