Blackford County Resident Raises Construction Deadline Questions About Lake Trout Solar

A resident raised questions during public comment about whether EDF's Lake Trout Solar project is properly authorized to be under construction.

According to the resident, the project's variance hearing required construction to begin before June 28, 2025, or the project would need to return to the Board of County Adjustments. Jeff stated: "The extension ended on June 28th, 2025. There was no extension after that date... There was no permit prior to that date either for construction."

They confirmed Lake Trout is currently doing construction work but questioned its legal authorization. He also noted that county attorney Aubrey will not answer his questions without commissioner permission and asked commissioners to grant it. Commissioner Borgenheimer responded: "Not until I talk to her."
