Blackford County Needs Public Input on Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan
From the Blackford County Commissioner meeting on May 18, 2026
Blackford County's Emergency Management Agency is asking residents to complete a public survey as part of an ongoing multi-hazard mitigation planning process. The survey is available via QR codes posted on the EMA and county Facebook pages. As of the May 18 commissioner meeting, 15 to 16 responses had been received.
The planning process launched May 5 with strong initial turnout. A virtual meeting is scheduled for June 23, with a final on-site meeting on July 21.
The plan is required for the county to qualify for federal and state disaster funding. Without it, infrastructure projects — potentially including work on the Lake Mohee Dam — cannot receive federal or state money.
