Commissioners approved two community funding requests at their May 4 meeting.

Heritage Days of Hartford City received $2,500, reduced from a $3,000 request to match what other entities have received for public events. Dr. Le represented the committee. Main Street will be kept clear this year and not blocked for the event.

Life Stream Services, a public transit provider, received $2,000. Transportation director Kevin Damp, a Blackford County resident, operates a federally funded 5311 vehicle through INDOT five days a week. The service is becoming a Medicaid transport provider, which will enable trips to hospitals and medical facilities from Blackford County.

Life Stream fares have not changed in 10 years: $1 per trip for riders ages 0 to 17 and 60 and older, and $2 per trip for riders ages 18 to 59. Damp was also asked to present a full funding request during budget season.
