Blackford County Schools board approved a 3-0 administrative realignment Monday after Chaz Gabriel, assistant principal of Blackbird Intermediate School, resigned to take a position closer to his home west of Kokomo. Gabriel had been commuting approximately 55 minutes each way. The district is filling the gap by reassigning three current administrators. Kelly Rubel moves from the junior high to an elementary building, which she requested — her background is in elementary education. Sarah Price, formerly a primary school administrator and assistant director of the Delaware-Blackford special education co-op, takes over as high school assistant principal. Price also serves as the corporation testing director. Shaylee Myron, the preschool director, adds an assistant principal title to her role. Myron has grown the preschool program from one classroom to five over the past three years. The superintendent said the moves place "strong people that we already have" into growth opportunities. A teaching position will be added at the preschool to handle day-to-day responsibilities for Myron.
