BCS Performing Arts Center Construction Progresses Despite Weather Delays
From the Blackford County Schools Board Meeting on August 18, 2026
Construction on the Blackford County Schools Performing Arts Center remains on track despite losing approximately four construction days to severe weather over the past two weeks.
Construction manager Max, reported that all precast concrete has been set, roofing is roughly one-third complete, and all steel work is finished in the back section. Fire protection systems have started going in, and sheet metal work is running a couple days ahead of schedule. Five replacement pumps are fully operational, and masonry walls under the precast risers are about 90 percent complete.
Glass and windows are already staged on site, with exterior windows and doors expected to arrive in early September. HVAC ductwork in the high-bay area will begin within the next week, and floor pouring is planned over the coming month.
The September board meeting will be held on-site at the construction project — pushed back one month from the original August target to allow more visible progress. By that point, the building is expected to be "dried in," meaning the roof and exterior walls will be enclosed, significantly reducing weather delays going forward.
