BCS Opens Collective Bargaining Process — Contract Targeted by October

The Blackford County Schools board opened its mandatory public hearing to begin the collective bargaining process with the Blackford Federation of Teachers.
The formal bargaining period opens September 15, though informal talks will begin before then. The district is targeting a special session on October 13 for a public hearing on the budget and a tentative agreement, with ratification by both sides expected by the October board meeting. The budget deadline is November 1, and the collective bargaining deadline is November 15.
The district's capital projects plan, bus replacement plan, and Form 3 budget will be posted to the website by September 15.
Julia, representing the Blackford Federation of Teachers, said the union "looks forward to working with the board and Mr. Yenser" and has "always appreciated how you guys have always supported the teachers." No public comments were made during the hearing.
