BCS Introduces AED, Budget, and Cell Phone Policies in First Reading
From the Blackford County Schools Board meeting on May 19, 2026
The board conducted first readings of several new and updated policies, with votes expected at the June meeting.
Among them: a new AED and sudden cardiac arrest policy that requires the district to keep AED training certificates on file for coaches and activity leaders and develop venue-specific action plans for cardiac emergencies at each athletic and activity venue — including the baseball field, performing arts center, cafeteria, and gymnasium.
A new budget adoption policy establishes that the board has authority to manage financial affairs and that the treasurer works with the superintendent on budget facilitation.
The wireless communication device policy was updated for compliance with Indiana's new cell phone ban law, and the public records policy was updated to include a fee structure for processing requests. Additional policies with minor formatting and date changes were also included.
