BCS Approves $1.55 Million in Claims; Reserves Running Above Target
From the Blackford County Schools Board Meeting on August 18, 2026
The Blackford County Schools board approved $1,546,323.84 in claims along with a monthly resolution to transfer $141,600 from the education fund to the operations fund. The consent agenda also included a $278 donation from First Presbyterian Church of Hartford City for hygiene supply products. All items passed 4-0.
The superintendent reported that fund balances are running above target levels. The education fund sits at 22 percent of expenditures against a 15 percent target, while the operations fund is at 27 percent against the same target. July is typically the district's lowest-expense month since school-year employees are not working and retirement payoffs were processed in June. The June property tax disbursement was recently received, and balances are expected to decrease through December as the school year progresses.
