Aging Sewer Plant Prompts Planning Talk in Shamrock Lakes
From the Shamrock Lakes Town Board meeting in October 2026
Sewer plant manager Travis Williamson urged Shamrock Lakes to begin long-term sewer-plant replacement planning during the town board's October meeting, saying the plant is in its 45th year.
Williamson said plants like Shamrock Lakes' typically have a life expectancy of 50 to 60 years. He stressed that those figures are broad estimates, not a fixed deadline for the town's facility.
He also said the town could have difficulty qualifying for some grants because of relatively higher incomes and lower sewer rates.
The discussion included sludge handling. Williamson described the bag-and-dump arrangement as less expensive than older pump-out practices. The board did not approve a replacement project or establish its cost.
