$75,000 Grant Funds Planning at Blackford County Schools
From the Blackford County Schools Board meeting on October 27, 2026
Blackford County Schools has received a $75,000 planning grant funded by Eli Lilly to study barriers to learning outside the classroom, the district announced October 27.
The Opportunity to Learn program addresses issues such as transportation, food security, mental health and housing instability. Attendance and family circumstances are also part of the effort.
The planning money cannot pay for direct services. It can fund research and data collection, as well as site visits, community input and outside assistance with planning or grant writing.
The district is seeking a grant writer or consultant experienced with Lilly grants as it prepares for a separate competitive application. That opportunity could provide Blackford County Schools with up to $899,000 over three years.
The application deadline is March 11. Award notifications are expected in late 2027. Receiving the planning grant does not mean the district has received the larger award.
