The 60-second story

Phillip D. "Phil" Beachy is a semi-retired carpenter and refrigerator technician from Fort Wayne running as an independent write-in candidate for U.S. Representative in Indiana's 3rd Congressional District. He owns EcoThunder Refrigeration and previously managed a family grocery store for roughly 40 years.

This is Beachy's third consecutive run for federal office. He entered the 2022 IN-3 Democratic primary, finishing behind Gary Snyder, then ran as an independent write-in for U.S. Senate in 2024. He says he is entirely self-funded, accepts no donations, and is motivated by what he describes as an "obvious lack of intelligence in our congress."

Beachy's platform centers on removing corporate and dark money from politics, protecting Social Security and Medicare from privatization, reforming the tax code to be based on ability to pay, and controlling military waste. He has no party endorsements and minimal campaign infrastructure beyond a personal website and Facebook page.

Three things voters should know

01

This is his third federal race in a row

Beachy ran in the 2022 IN-3 Democratic primary, then as a 2024 independent write-in for U.S. Senate, and is now making a 2026 independent write-in bid for IN-3. He has not won any of these races.

02

He accepts zero donations

Beachy says he is entirely self-funded and has no donors. No FEC committee filings have been found for his campaign, consistent with a write-in candidate who falls below reporting thresholds.

03

He ran 40 years of small business before politics

Before entering politics, Beachy managed a family grocery store for roughly four decades. He now owns EcoThunder Refrigeration, a small appliance repair business in Fort Wayne.
