Spectrum Bringing Fiber Broadband to 530+ Blackford County Locations
From a Charter Communications announcement on May 15, 2026
Spectrum is expanding its fiber broadband network to more than 530 previously unserved or underserved homes and businesses in Blackford County, the company announced Thursday.
The expansion is part of Charter Communications' $7 billion national rural construction initiative, which aims to build more than 100,000 miles of fiber reaching 1.7 million new locations. Residential and business customers in the newly served areas will have access to starting speeds of 500 Mbps, with plans available up to 1 Gbps. Spectrum says its plans come with no data caps or contracts.
Josh Moore, Area Vice President for Spectrum's Midwest South Management Area, is leading the regional effort. Spectrum simultaneously announced similar expansions in neighboring Delaware County and Wayne County the same week, pointing to a coordinated rollout across east-central Indiana.
State Senator Travis Holdman was quoted endorsing the project. Holdman lost the May 5 Republican primary for State Senate District 19 to Blake Fiechter but remains in office until the new term begins in 2027.
For a county of roughly 12,000 residents, this represents a significant infrastructure investment in broadband access.
